Refund & Cancellation Policy

  • Free cancellation is available up to 15 days before the scheduled check-in date.
  • Reservations cancelled within 15 days of check-in are non-refundable.
  • Approved refunds are generally processed within 1–7 business days.

This Refund & Cancellation Policy applies to all reservations made at EDM Hostel, Upper Dharamkot, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India.

Early Departure

Guests who choose to check out before their confirmed departure date shall not be entitled to a refund for any unused nights.

Promotional & Discounted Bookings

Reservations made under promotional offers, discounted rates, special packages, event packages, or explicitly designated non-refundable plans shall remain non-refundable unless otherwise stated at the time of booking.

Reservation Modifications

Requests for changes to reservation dates are subject to availability and prevailing room rates. Any difference in tariff, taxes, or applicable charges shall be borne by the guest. Approval of date changes remains solely at the discretion of EDM Hostel.

Force Majeure

In circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, extreme weather conditions, government restrictions, pandemics, civil disturbances, transportation disruptions, or other force majeure events, EDM Hostel may, at its sole discretion, offer rescheduling, booking credits, or alternative arrangements in place of cash refunds.

Refund Processing

Approved refunds shall be processed through the original mode of payment and are generally completed within 1 to 7 business days. Actual credit timelines may vary depending on the payment gateway, bank, card issuer, or financial institution involved.

Payment Gateway Charges

Where applicable, payment gateway charges, transaction fees, banking charges, or other third-party processing costs may be deducted from the refundable amount.

By confirming a reservation with EDM Hostel, guests acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to this Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Guest Conduct & Community Guidelines

EDM Hostel promotes a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all guests.

Guests are expected to:

  • Respect fellow guests, staff, and the local community.
  • Observe quiet hours and avoid excessive noise.
  • Respect personal space and shared facilities.
  • Maintain appropriate behaviour at all times.

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Harassment, discrimination, abusive behaviour, or misconduct.
  • Loud music in rooms, dormitories, and accommodation areas.
  • Activities that may endanger other guests, staff, or property.
  • Illegal activities of any kind.

Management reserves the right to refuse service or evict any guest whose conduct is considered disruptive, unsafe, or disrespectful without refund.

Food, Alcohol & Smoking Policy

  • Outside food and beverages are not permitted on the premises.
  • Outside liquor is strictly prohibited.
  • Smoking and consumption of alcohol are not permitted inside rooms, dormitories, washrooms, or indoor common areas.
  • Guests must comply with designated smoking or social area guidelines where applicable.
  • Room service is not provided.

Visitors Policy

  • Outside visitors are only permitted in designated common areas with prior approval from management.
  • Visitors are not permitted in guest rooms or dormitories without prior authorization.
  • Additional charges may apply for approved visitors.
  • Unregistered overnight guests are strictly prohibited.

Cleanliness & Environmental Responsibility

Guests are requested to:

  • Keep rooms, dormitories, and common areas clean and organized.
  • Dispose of waste responsibly.
  • Conserve water and electricity.
  • Respect the natural environment and surroundings of Dharamkot.

Laundry or washing clothes inside rooms, dormitories, bathrooms, balconies, or common areas is not permitted. Guests should use designated laundry services.

Luggage & Personal Belongings

  • Guests are responsible for their personal belongings at all times.
  • Lockers and secure storage should be used wherever available.
  • Valuables should not be left unattended.
  • Management shall not be responsible for loss, theft, or damage of personal belongings.

Luggage Storage

  • Luggage storage facilities may be provided at the guest's risk.
  • Stored luggage may be retained for a maximum period of 30 days unless otherwise approved by management.

Unclaimed Property

Management reserves the right to retain, dispose of, or auction belongings left behind by guests in cases of unpaid dues or abandoned property, subject to applicable laws.

Property Damage

  • Guests shall be liable for any loss, damage, breakage, or destruction caused to hostel property by themselves or their visitors.
  • Damaged or broken items may be charged up to three times their market replacement value, as determined by management.
  • Guests must not affix stickers, labels, posters, nails, or markings to walls, furniture, fixtures, or hostel property.

Safety & Security

The following items and activities are strictly prohibited:

  • Weapons, firearms, explosives, and hazardous materials.
  • Illegal drugs, contraband, and prohibited substances.
  • Gambling activities.
  • Any activity that violates local, state, or national laws.

Guests must immediately report any safety concerns, accidents, or suspicious activities to hostel management.

Pets Policy

Pets are not permitted on the premises unless specifically approved in writing by management.

Right of Admission

  • The management reserves the right of admission.
  • Staying at EDM Hostel does not create any tenancy or residency rights.
  • Management retains full authority over the operation and use of the premises.

Compliance with Laws

All guests must comply with:

  • Applicable laws and regulations.
  • Local authority directives.
  • Hostel policies and operational guidelines.

Failure to comply may result in immediate eviction without refund and, where applicable, notification to relevant authorities.
